This week we are going to meet Fernando and Yoann Agostinho, both glass blowers in Bruniquel, where Fernando Agostinho settled more than 2 years ago!
We find the father/son duo in their workshop which is located at the bottom of the village, they are preparing to blow a sculpture, we will witness the creation of the body of the latter live. It all starts with molten glass coming out of the oven which heats up to 1200°C (25 years the oven has been lit non-stop!) then little by little the incandescent ball takes shape, it's very satisfying to watch, almost hypnotic.
Looking at them it seems easy, but in reality it requires a lot of mastery, you have to constantly turn the cane and keep the glass at a certain temperature so that it remains malleable, there is little room for improvisation.
No secret, to be a good glassblower you have to practice, practice, practice some more! That's good, Fernando Agostinho has no less than 40 years of experience, his reputation is international, he offers unique and very colorful creations that you can see in his workshop or on his site: https://agostinhofernando.fr/

Yoann Agostinho, his son, has been a glassblower for 12 years, he is the 4th generation of glassblowers! He is inspired by pop culture, video games and mangas from his childhood, sculptures, tableware, decorative objects, there is only one spoiled for choice!
You can find Yoann's works in his shop in the center of the village, rue du Mazel open weekends in May and June, every day in July and August, or online: www.yoannagostinho.fr/fr/
The workshop opens its doors to the curious by appointment, if you are not afraid of the heat you can be in the front row to observe this know-how which remains rare and technical. The Agostinho duo is very friendly and authentic, they happily talk about their work, all with a smile!
